It does not seem like people because it is a much bigger and eternal process, starting to move in the deep of consciousness here (as the Pilgrim). And the Pilgrim further also does not know if this sense of the process is mistaken or not.

So this was our first intuitive approach to the anagogical meaning of this tercet.

Now, we will run it through our new hermeneutical method to see if a rational methodology can also produce the same anagogical meaning, not only give confirmation of an already provided hypothesis.

Domain constraint: Soul, God, relationship, spiritual growth, spiritual life.

Literal function: Something is moving toward the Pilgrim and Virgil. It does not look like people. Consciousness cannot identify what it is seeing.

Sequential position: The three carvings have just established the spiritual foundation: connection with the Divine (Gabriel), the steady motion of the spiritual life (Ark/Oxen), and the new dynamic between secular and spiritual within (Trajan/Gregory). The reader has been told not to focus on the form of the corrective process but on its succession and rewards. Consciousness is now standing within that foundation, looking forward.

Teleological direction: Whatever approaches must serve the soul’s journey to God. It must therefore be the actual corrective mechanism for superbia, arriving from God’s side, as the “come Dio vuol” line just announced. It is not a human initiative but a Divine one, moving toward consciousness.

Biographical confirmation: Dante in his early 40s, after rediscovering the spiritual life, would have encountered interior movements he could not categorize with his old philosophical and secular frameworks. The “vaneggio” maps onto the genuine confusion of someone whose previous cosmology has no language for what is now stirring within him.

Reader variable:

First encounter: Something confusing is approaching. I do not understand it yet.

Years of practice: I recognize this. The Divine corrective does not arrive in familiar form. It disorients before it heals.

Post-Paradiso perception: This is God’s own substance approaching the soul. Of course it does not look like “people.” It is categorically beyond human construction. The confusion is the first sign that something real is happening.

Result: The framework produces the same core meaning that was first found intuitively, but grounds it with precision and opens it across the three reader states without becoming arbitrary.

—

So here we see both intuition and rational methodology arriving at the same result, the deeper spiritual meaning seems to be a Divine process of healing moving towards the soul. Which by nature has to be a part of the Soul’s Journey to God.

The inspiration is established, now begins the work.

Where intuition and rational analysis concur.
